"...never forget, that until the day when God will deign to reveal the future to man, all human wisdom is contained in these two words, - 'Wait and hope.' "   - the Count of Monte Cristo

my summer journey begins in two days.  my summer 'soundtrack' is complete, yet seems incomplete.  something is still lacking.

i'll be in florida for a week, then road trip to colorado...so much of me is contained in that state.  the people, the memories, the places:  poudre, gray rock, horsetooth, old town, denver, boulder, the crack...

the last of the colorado summers begins.

yesterday heralded the beginning of summer [mentally] for me.  it was a very "summer" day, even though the weather didn't get nice until around 3.  nate and i opened the pool for the summer and sat around the deck for awhile.  opening a private pool is a different monster than the good old neenah pool, but this one is open all the time to us and we don't have to work there, so it's all good.  besides, we got free breakfast and lunch for it.  after i got home, it was time for reading a little the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe.  after all that time in the sun, i grew drowsy quickly, and took a nap in my hammock...a good nap.  watched the phantom and went to coffee with dave.  i think it's safe to say next year is going to be fun...  summer is good.

what do you do when your roommate has been told NOT to bake a cake for friends during finals?  build a big cake...not just big...huge.  ever heard of a funfetti cake containing approximately 20,100 calories?  it happened today.  4 boxes of funfetti, 4 1/2 containers of frosting, and 8 layers later, the cake was complete.  sick.
